The backrest supports your lower back providing good relief throughout the day. You can also change how far back the chair goes and lock it in or leave it unlocked. The headrest is a nice plus too!

Overall at the price I got the chair, I was very happy. Comfortable chair with many great functions. When I need to take a break, I may lean back on the seat's lumbar support pillow and head pillow and feel like I'm sitting in a sports vehicle.
